On with the practice tips...
====================
Tip #1 - Have A Plan
====================
Take the time to prepare and organize your
practice in advance. Make sure you know:
- What drills you're going to run
- How long you'll run them for
- What order you'll run them in
- What equipment you'll need
- How many water breaks you'll give
- And so on
Write it all down on a sheet of paper and
refer to it throughout the practice session.
Keep the drills short and snappy, and make
sure you tell your players how long they will
be doing each activity for.
Athletes are much more likely to work at maximum
intensity when they know exactly how long they
need to perform for.
Overall, you'll be able to create more efficient,
more effective practices and appear more confident
and knowledgeable to players and parents.

Tip #2 - Keep Everyone Involved
====================
Try to avoid drills that require large numbers
of players to sit out for long periods of time.
If you do have players on the sidelines, make
sure they are encouraging their teammates and
staying engaged.
Even better, set up skill development stations
where they can work on their game while they wait.
For example, an agility circuit, a jumprope
station, or a push-up and situp station.
====================
Tip #3 - Keep It Fun and Positive
====================
Make sure you hand out more praise than criticism.
If you need to correct a mistake, try using the
"sandwich" technique.
Start with a compliment, then deliver the constructive
criticism, then "sandwich" that with some more
encouragement.
A great philosophy for an enjoyable, productive practice
is to encorage your team to "have fun, but don't be silly."
If you've got any thoughts on running practice you'd
like to share, feel free to write back and let me know!
